Win the Ultimate prom (WUP) originated in 2007 when a college decided to create an innovative and creative way to connect with teens. Every high school in the Phoenix area  had a chance to win the 25K cash prize to use toward their prom.
 
WUP became the talk of the town and soon attracted over 100 high schools. Desert Vista High School won that first $25K in November 2007.
 
In the spring of 2008 WUP branched out to San Diego and Dallas with tremendous success and WUP had the honor of awarding $25K to Mira Mesa High. The award was a dual blessing for the school, which had been greatly affected by the San Diego wildfires.
 
WUP just finished up a third year, with its doors open to every high school in America. In addition to the $25K grand prize, WUP has added a $5,000 prize and a Prom Band Prize.  The winners, announced December 1, 2008, were Mira Mesa High School in San Diego with the grand prize; JP Taravella, located in Florida will receive $5,000; while North Garland High School in Texas will receive the band.
 
WUP is about to make another transition, from Win the Ultimate Prom to LiveProm.com. The five page contest site will expand to include 40 pages of:
